Practice Schedule Commitments & Details
In order to get the players of each team ready for games, it is important that your child (and a supervising adult if the child is under 12) is on the field during scheduled practice. Practice can be up to 5 days a week for the first 2 weeks in order to meet conditioning requirements. Conditioning practices are a lot of running and working out to prepare for the upcoming tackling in the weeks to follow. During conditioning practices, it is highly recommended that your child drink a lot of water during the day and bring plenty of water to practice. Practice start dates will be emailed 2 weeks before the season begins by the team mom or head or assistant coach.
After conditioning requirements are met, coaches will create a regular practice schedule to include up to 3 days a week of practice. Typically, all practices are held from 6-8 PM at Anderson Middle School in Salerno. The first practice of the 2023 season will be on January 9, 2023. If there is a change to this, you will receive an email with the updates from the board, the team mom, or the coaches. Be sure to provide the best email for reaching you and if you do not understand any of the information reach out to Ben at 772-263-0053.
If your child(ren) does not complete the required conditioning time, the child will have to continue to condition while the team works on tackling and learning their positions. We strongly encourage each player to attend all practices, but if you know you will not make it, please let your team mom or head or assistant coach know as soon as possible. DO NOT tell another parent or anyone else but the immediate team mom and coaches if you will not be attending to ensure that they are aware of the circumstances of your child's absence.
Game Schedule Commitments & Details
Games in the FSYFL League typically begin around the 2nd weekend of February every year. Martin County Jaguars will post game schedules on our website as well as send emails with game schedules to the email provided. We ask that you coordinate with the coaches and team moms to ensure you arrive on time for game check in's. Games start as early as 10 AM and as late as 6 PM. It is important that you check the schedule within your account or visits FSYFL and select our club for the schedule, which is typically available within the first few weeks of the season. Please be prepared for some traveling as that may require accommodations. Each team in our region is required to travel to another region to play what is called a "Foreign Game" against kids that we will never play against in our own region. This is usually every player's favorite game!
The game will consist of two continuous 22 minute halves with a five minute halftime. The clock will be continuously running, only stopping for the team and/or referee time-outs and the last 2 minutes of the game. The clock stops in the last 2 minutes of the game (i.e. the second half) and will revert to normal NFHS game time rules. i.e. stopping for timeouts, penalties, incomplete passes and out-of-bounds running plays, etc. Each team is allowed two, thirty-second timeouts per game, ONE IN EACH HALF. An unused timeout from the FIRST half may carry over to the second half, in this case resulting in the accumulation of two timeouts for the second half. There will be a mandatory “two-minute warning” for each half called by the referee, these 2-minute warnings will carry all privileges of a time out for both teams. In the last two minutes of the game, the team with a lead of more than 18 points cannot call a time out. There may also be one referee timeout at each 10-minute mark for water breaks where the clock will stop, however, this referee timeout will be at the discretion of the referee crew. If the weather is not hot the timeout will not be implemented. On 2 minute warning of the 1st half, the clock starts on the ready. On 2 minute warning for the 2nd half, the clock starts on the snap.
Payments & Paperwork
If your child(ren) is registered to play, it is your responsibility to turn in all paperwork and payments by the designated deadlines. The deadlines are as follows:
- Online Registration Begins October 20, 2022 - In order to secure a spot on a team.
- Regular Registration Begins on December 1, 2022 - fees may change at this time and it is the responsibility of the parent to ensure that all paperwork and payments are turned in prior to receiving equipment.
- Deadline to Register is January 10th, 2023 - If spots and equipment are available, you may contact our board members and we will try to add your child(ren) to the roster.
Please note that FSYFL doesn't allow for new players to be added after the third week of practice

Refunds
After you register a child to play for the upcoming season, we understand that things can and do come up (we get it, the volunteers of this organization are also parents). In an effort to ensure you receive a refund, please submit your refund request in writing before the deadline of January 13, 2023, to martinjaguars@gmail.com. If you are granted a refund, you will be returned all of your money minus a return fee of 15%, and if payment was made online, the 3% fee will not be refundable. Circumstances that will waive fees include:
- Cash or Check Payments - If you paid by check or cash, you will not be charged a fee for a return.
- If you request a refund before November 30, 2022, and did not have a payment plan in place
All other circumstances for a refund will require a board-voted decision upon receipt of a written request before January 13, 2023. ALL SALES ARE FINAL AFTER JANUARY 31, 2023 and ALL PAYMENT PLANS WILL BE DUE IN FULL AT THIS TIME. There will be no returns after that time because the board will have committed your child's fees to the league and it is not possible to retrieve them.
PLEASE NOTE: Martin County Jaguars are a nonprofit organization. Martin County Jaguars Youth Football League relies on money paid by registration, volunteers, and private donations to run its season. Please be considerate to the other families of the Martin County Jaguars when requesting a refund.
